Five Design Questions to Ask for the New Year

The start of a new year is a great time to do a quick check up on your firm’s visual and digital identity. Here are five questions we recommend asking at least once a year.

Refresh: When was the last time you reviewed/refreshed your firm’s brand identity? If the answer is any longer than 5 years ago, or you’ve had a significant change in business strategy, leadership, or growth, then it’s time to add that to the 2024 to do list. More on brand refreshes.

Take Stock: Has it been more than a year since you updated the stock imagery your firm uses? If the answer is yes, it’s time for an update. You may not need a complete overhaul but getting a few new images (and retiring some over-used ones) will help keep your audience engaged. Here are our tips for how to select engaging stock images.

Accessibility: How accessible is your website? What about your PDFs? Accessibility standards and the technologies available to help ensure compliance are evolving. Staying up to date across digital assets and properties is a must for any business, including asset management firms. Besides, ensuring everyone can access the information about and from your firm is good business sense. We shared our advice on getting started with accessibility.

Strategic SEO: Does your firm have an SEO strategy in place and when was the last time you it was reviewed?  With last year’s big update from Google (Read More Here) it is more important than ever to ensure your website is set up for results. Regularly reviewing your keywords and supporting content strategy is essential in reaching prospective clients.

Slide Success: When was the last time you reviewed your pitch deck or factsheet template? Are you sure your perspective and what makes you different stands out for clients and prospects amid all that data? Slides have a funny way of straying from the original template or design, typically to include more content. The beginning of the year is a great time to review how your slides look “in real-life” and make any adjustments to ensure they still reflect your brand and visual identity. Read more.
